Quick answers about searching 11,490 live listings, equipment finance through Equifund, valuations, auctions and listing as a dealer.
What the site is, what it is not, and where the listings come from.
Asset Scanner is a free Australian marketplace that brings trucks, trailers, utes, vans and heavy machinery listings from dealers across Australia into one searchable site.
Every listing is live dealer stock. You search and compare in one place, then go straight to the dealer to enquire or buy. Asset Scanner does not sell equipment itself, and listing is free for dealers. Finance for anything you find is arranged through Equifund Financial Group, a related company. That relationship is disclosed in the finance section below and on our partner page.
Yes, Asset Scanner is free to use, and you do not need an account to search, compare or enquire.
A free account is optional. It lets you keep a list of favourite listings and set up email alerts so you hear about new stock that matches what you are after.
No. Asset Scanner lists equipment on behalf of dealers and sends you to the dealer's own website to enquire, inspect or buy.
Each listing has a button that opens the original listing on the dealer's site. Price, availability and inspections are all handled by the dealer. If you want finance, you can start that from the same listing page, and an Equifund broker handles it separately from the sale.
Listings are collected directly from dealers' own websites across Australia, and each automated refresh replaces sold or removed stock with what's currently on the dealer's site.
When a dealer sells or removes an item, it drops off Asset Scanner at the next refresh. Prices and specifications are shown as the dealer advertises them. If something looks out of date, the dealer's own listing is the final word, and you can reach it from the button on the listing page.
Asset Scanner lists equipment from dealers in every state and territory: NSW, VIC, QLD, WA, SA, TAS, NT and ACT.
Filter by state to see stock near you, or search nationally. Many dealers arrange interstate delivery, so the right machine is often worth looking for beyond your own state.
Asset Scanner covers 23 categories: trucks, buses, trailers, vans, utes, cars, caravans, tractors, excavators, loaders, skid steers, telehandlers, dozers, graders, rollers, backhoes, forklifts, dumpers, scissor lifts, crushers and screeners, parts and attachments, agriculture equipment and other machinery.
Within trucks you can filter by body type, such as prime mover, tipper, pantech, curtainsider or refrigerated. Trailers and agriculture have their own sub-types. Both new and used stock is listed.
How to find the right machine and what to check before you commit.
Type what you are after into the search bar, or browse by category and filter by state, make, price, year, condition and hours.
Category pages such as trucks for sale or excavators for sale are the fastest way in, and every state and make has its own page. Results can be sorted by price, year or newest listing. Text searches rank by how closely a listing matches your words, so a make and model such as Kenworth K200 or Kubota U55 works well.
Yes. You can compare up to four listings side by side, save favourites, and set up a saved search that emails you when matching listings are added.
Use the compare and heart icons on any listing card. The save-search button on the results page sets up an email alert for whatever filters you have applied.
Check the service history and logbook, engine hours and odometer, tyres, brakes, chassis and body condition, the cabin, and compliance with Australian Design Rules. Then arrange an independent inspection before you commit.
Compare the asking price with similar trucks on Asset Scanner and run a free valuation to see the market range. If you plan to finance the truck, a pre-approval before you inspect tells you your budget before you start negotiating.
Mini excavators from 1 to 5 tonnes suit residential trenching, landscaping and tight-access work. Mid-size machines from 8 to 15 tonnes handle commercial excavation, drainage and demolition. Excavators of 20 tonnes and more are for bulk earthmoving, quarries and mining.
Match the tonnage to your dig depth, reach, bucket size and how you will transport the machine. The 3 tonne class is the most common mini size, and the 13 and 20 tonne classes are the civil workhorses. Browsing by weight band lets you compare like with like.
On Asset Scanner's Kenworth trucks for sale page, which lists Kenworth prime movers and rigid trucks from dealers in every state.
Filter by state, year and price, or search a model name such as K200, T610 or T909 to see current stock from several dealers at once. Every listing links to the dealer for inspection and price, and finance can be arranged for new or used Kenworths.
Used equipment costs less up front and is available immediately, while new equipment comes with a full manufacturer warranty, the latest technology and dealer pre-delivery.
For many operators a well-maintained used machine with a documented service history is the better value. Weigh your budget, how hard the machine will work, and whether the used market for that model is deep enough to give you a real choice. The used and new pages for each category let you compare both sides.
“Ask Dealer” means the dealer has not published a price for that listing, so you need to contact them for a quote.
It is common on new stock, specialised machinery and items where the price depends on configuration. Finance is still available: once you have the dealer's quote, a broker can work from that figure. Where a listing shows a market illustration, it reflects comparable priced listings, not a price or a quote for that machine.
How finance works on Asset Scanner, who provides it, and what to expect.
In partnership with Equifund Financial Group, which shares common ownership with Asset Scanner. You're never obliged to use Equifund and can arrange finance with any broker or lender you choose. Read the full disclosure.
Yes. You can request a free finance quote from any listing page or from the finance page, and it is handled by Equifund Financial Group. A broker calls you back within 30 minutes, 8am to 6pm weekdays.
The form takes about 60 seconds. No obligation. No impact on your credit score to get a quote.
Equifund Financial Group is an Australian equipment finance broker, and it shares common ownership with Asset Scanner.
We disclose that relationship rather than presenting Equifund as an independent third party. Using Asset Scanner never obliges you to use Equifund, and you are free to arrange finance with any broker or lender you choose. The full disclosure and how the partnership works are on our partner page.
Your details go securely to Equifund, and a broker calls you back within 30 minutes, 8am to 6pm weekdays, to confirm the asset and your situation.
The broker then takes your application to the 40+ lenders on Equifund's panel and comes back with options. You decide whether to proceed. Nothing goes to a lender until you say so.
Same-day approval is possible on straightforward applications, and most are approved within 24 hours.
Straightforward usually means an established ABN, a clear credit history and a standard asset such as a truck, trailer or excavator from a dealer. More complex applications can take longer, and the broker will tell you what to expect on the first call.
Getting a quote and an in-house pre-approval leaves no trace on your credit file. A credit enquiry is only recorded if you choose to go ahead and your application is submitted to a lender.
That is why you can get a quote and a pre-approval before you have settled on a specific machine. It is the stage every finance button on Asset Scanner asks for.
Not always. Having an ABN makes equipment finance simpler, but Equifund arranges finance for both businesses and individuals.
Tell the broker your situation on the callback and they will explain which options fit. Consumer-purpose finance is subject to responsible-lending obligations under the National Consumer Credit Protection Act.
To get a quote you only need to give your name, phone number and email. A full application may also need your ABN, details of the asset and basic financial information.
You do not need to have chosen a specific listing to start. A broker can pre-approve a budget and you can shop with it.
No. Getting a quote is free and there is no obligation to proceed.
Any fees or charges that apply to an actual loan are set out by the lender before you sign, and the broker will walk you through them.
Equifund finances trucks, trailers, prime movers, tippers, excavators, loaders, tractors, agricultural equipment, forklifts, vans, utes and a wide range of other machinery and commercial vehicles across Australia.
Both new and used assets can be financed, whether you found them on Asset Scanner, at a dealer directly or at auction.
The common structures are a chattel mortgage, a finance lease and a rental or operating lease.
With a chattel mortgage you own the asset from day one and the lender holds security over it. With a lease the lender owns the asset and you pay to use it. Which suits you depends on your cash flow, tax position and how long you plan to keep the asset, so talk to your accountant as well as the broker.
No. You are never obliged to use any particular finance provider, including a dealer's in-house finance or Equifund.
Getting an independent quote before you sign is normal practice, and you can take whichever offer suits you to the dealer. A broker works across a panel of lenders rather than one or two lender relationships.
Equifund's panel includes lenders that consider first-time owner-drivers, low-doc and no-doc applications, and applicants with past credit problems.
Each situation has its own guide covering what lenders look for and how to prepare, and the broker will tell you on the first call which lenders are realistic for you.
A broker calls you back within 30 minutes, 8am to 6pm weekdays. No obligation, no impact on your credit score to get a quote.
Reading a price, checking it against the market and what the repayment figures mean.
Compare the listing with similar makes, models and years on Asset Scanner, and run a free valuation to see the asking-price range for comparable machines.
Listing cards show a price cue when there is enough comparable stock to judge a price against the market. Condition, hours and attachments move the price a long way, so treat the range as a starting point for negotiation rather than a verdict.
Enter the category, make, model and year, and optionally hours or kilometres, and the tool returns an asking-price range built from comparable live listings on Asset Scanner.
It is completely free and asks for no contact details. It covers 21 equipment categories. Where there are not enough comparable listings to be confident, the tool says so rather than giving you a number.
The weekly repayment shown on listings is an indicative estimate only, calculated from the advertised price over a standard term at the illustrative interest rate shown next to the figure. It is not a quote.
Your actual rate and repayment depend on the lender, the asset, the term, any deposit and your circumstances. Use the repayment calculator on the listing page to change the term and deposit, then request a real quote from a broker.
Prices are shown as the dealer advertises them, and whether GST is included varies between dealers, so confirm with the dealer before you commit.
Auction lots are different again: the auctioneer's terms set out buyer's premium and GST. If you are financing the purchase, give the broker the GST-inclusive figure so the quote is accurate.
Partner auction catalogues listed alongside dealer stock.
No. Asset Scanner publishes the catalogues of partner auctions, currently Emerald Auction Centre in Queensland, so you can browse lots alongside dealer listings. Bidding takes place on the auctioneer's own site.
Each lot page shows the description, photos and closing time and links to the lot on the auctioneer's site to register and bid.
Yes. Finance is available for auction purchases, and arranging a pre-approval before bidding means you know your limit going in.
Start from any lot page or the finance page. A broker calls you back within 30 minutes, 8am to 6pm weekdays.
